Volunteer Opportunities at Caring Contact
Caring Listener - A great opportunity for an individual seeking a significant long-term commitment. Requires extensive training and a minimum commitment of eight hours/month for a year. The hotline is open at 7:00 am - 11 pm seven days a week and once the training is complete, volunteers can work at times of their choosing. Many of our volunteer Listeners have full time jobs.
Board Member - Board members are responsible for organization oversight, providing strategic direction, and ensuring the financial health of the organization. Caring Contact board members typically serve three, 2-year terms, act as ambassadors and advocates for the organization, and contribute financially to the organization's success.
Committee Volunteer - Individuals seeking to use their knowledge and experience in marketing, fundraising, finance, or other professional skills might be interested in this opportunity. Requires an ongoing, but limited commitment. Could lead to Board service.
Ad Hoc Event Organizer or Fundraiser - a great opportunity for an individual who would like to support Caring Contact by raising funds through a targeted special event or through a personal peer-to-peer fundraising campaign. Caring Contact's Development Director will provide support and guidance as needed.
Training/Education Sponsor - An opportunity to invite Caring Contact to come to an employee resource group or other business unit to provide training in active listening, suicide awareness, or emotional wellness. Training/Education can be held in-person or remotely using Zoom or another video application
School Liaison - We would welcome the opportunity to bring our suicide awareness and prevention trainings to schools and school districts within our five county service area (Essex, Middlesex, Morris, Somerset and Union).
